The Dean gives leadership to the academic life of the School of Arts and Sciences on the Long Island campus by assuming responsibility for academic programs, faculty development, and the academic life of students.  Reporting to the Provost, the Dean collaborates with the other Academic Deans and the Dean of Student Life.  

 

Qualifications:  Ph.D. or equivalent Doctoral degree, record of excellent teaching and scholarly activity; a proven track record of administrative experience, strong leadership and interpersonal skills; a collegial stance and collaborative management style; commitment to the liberal arts and career preparation; communication and presentation skills; understanding of the importance of new pedagogies, especially the use of technology in education; appreciation of the importance of encouraging diversity in the college community and across the curriculum; familiarity with methods and issues of assessment; and a commitment to engaging effectively with faculty, students and staff.

Director, Education Program

Chatham University, Pittsburgh, PA

Chatham University seeks an exceptional leader and builder to join existing and new faculty in its growing Education programs. Chatham is a vibrant co-educational university with three distinctive Colleges and one School. Chatham College for Women is nationally recognized and one of the oldest women's colleges in the United States. Currently, the Education program offers undergraduate degrees in Elementary Education, in Early Childhood Education, and secondary certification in a wide range of disciplines.  In addition, a graduate degree is offered, the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT).  These are large programs with multiple field experiences at all levels.  Passing rates of students on the PRAXIS exams are consistently high.

 

The Education program seeks a dynamic, entrepreneurial director who is also a proven leader and motivator.  Interest and/or experience in international education and/or in environmental education are highly desired.  Required qualifications include an earned doctorate and demonstrated excellence in teaching, scholarly activities, and service suitable for appointment at senior rank.  Candidates who have a record of success in obtaining external support, national visibility within the profession, administrative experience, and a record of success in curriculum and program development and in establishing links with public and private school systems are preferred. Duties will include leadership and faculty development, scholarship, budgeting, and some teaching. The Director will also have opportunities to establish collaborations with the Pittsburgh Public Schools and with the Pine-Richland School District, which surrounds Chatham’s new Eden Hall Campus, located approximately thirty-five minutes from the Woodland Road Campus.

Vice President for Institutional Advancement

Working in partnership with the President, the Vice President for Institutional Advancement is the College’s chief development officer with responsibilities for the fund-raising activities across the College. As one of six vice presidents who report directly to the President, s/he will actively participate in senior-level decisions regarding College priorities and policies by serving on the President’s Executive Council. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Advancement professional who will be charged with significantly increasing the College’s donor base, strengthening relationships with current and past donors, and increasing the total dollars raised in support of the College's immediate and short term needs. Qualifications: The new Vice President for Institutional Advancement must have a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred, and a minimum five years of demonstrated successful fundraising and administrative experience, ideally in higher education. The President is seeking a strong individual who is professionally active and possesses significant supervisory experience in the fundraising field, strong knowledge of current fundraising practices and systems in higher education, a proven track record in planning and implementing fundraising programs, and experience in establishing and working with a corps of volunteers.  The ideal candidate must demonstrate excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills, and have successful experience with comprehensive campaigns.
