The President and Board of Trustees at Trine University seek nominations and applications for the position of Vice President for University Development. The new Vice President will play a major part in the preparation and implementation of the campaign.

The Position

Reporting to the President, the new Vice President is the chief development officer for the University and will direct all fundraising activities and be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of the office staff and other staff members assigned to the Development Office. He/she is a member of the President's Cabinet and works directly with Trustees who are members of the Development Committee.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to build and manage a strong Development staff; be responsible for personnel through hiring and staff development; and evaluate and hold staff accountable for specific goals.
  • Establish and implement standards of performance to maximize fundraising potential for annual fund, major and planned gifts, endowment giving, corporate grants, foundations, donor relations, and advancement services.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan that addresses long and short term goals through the major donor moves management process for each prospective major donor, ensuring regular and systematic contact by the appropriate University representatives. Work collaboratively with the President on donor prospect development for major gift solicitation.
  • Manage the University Development budgets; create spending guidelines and continue to monitor and lower the cost of raising a dollar.
  • Prepare and present Development reports for the Board of Trustees and Committee meetings; relate to individual Trustees at the direction of the President.
  • Represent the University at special events and functions on and off-campus as requested by the President; perform other related duties as assigned by the President.
  • This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Development professional who will be charged with significantly increasing the donor base and increasing the total dollars raised in support of the institution's immediate needs. The Vice President for University Development should have a Master's degree and a minimum of five years of successful senior-level experience in educational fundraising, public relations, and organizational staff management and leadership. The President is seeking a strong individual who is professionally active and possesses significant experience in implementing a comprehensive development plan, major gift fundraising, and staff motivation and management.     The Executive Director reports directly to the Senior Vice President for University Advancement and supervises the SGPP staffs working in the areas of development, communication, and marketing. In collaboration with the Senior Vice President for University Advancement and the Vice President of the Schools of Graduate and Professional Program, the Executive Director will increase the visibility and provide dynamic and creative outreach to the University's friends and publics. Serving the University and its Vice Presidents as the ordinary spokesperson of SGPP to the media and alumni, and representing the University in events and activities in the greater community, the Executive Director will reside in the Twin Cities area. The Executive Director will assist the Vice President of SGPP in working with pertinent Advisory Board and Institutes and will be responsible for fostering partnerships and leading a strong SGPP fundraising development initiative.

    The Position

    Reporting to the President, the Executive Vice President will serve as a member of the President's cabinet and work closely with a broad range of campus constituencies including the other vice presidents, deans, trustees, student leaders and donors. The Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs will work collaboratively with the University community to advance the pursuit of academic excellence and the quality of student life.

    The Executive Vice President for Academic & Student Affairs will:

  • Provide leadership, vision, and administration to all areas affecting academic excellence and the quality of student life;
  • Promote the integration of learning and student development inside and outside the classroom;
  • Oversee the adherence to recognized academic standards;
  • Ensure academic quality by maintaining academic program reviews using student learning outcomes for continuous improvement;
  • Provide leadership and focus to curricular reform and oversee the integration of technology into the curriculum;
  • Formulate policy and initiate long-term planning in the area of student affairs;
  • Work cooperatively with enrollment management and faculty to maintain a balance between traditional and non-traditional student populations and improve overall student retention;
  • Manage and provide direction to all programs/departments reporting to the Office of Academic & Student Affairs including oversight of fiscal and personnel planning;
  • Pursue and secure external funding for new academic and student affairs initiatives and cultivate community partnerships that enhance academic offerings and student programs;
  • Support a shared governance model for academic and student affairs policies and procedures.

    The Position:

    Stonehill College is seeking exceptional candidates for the position of Vice President for Mission. The Vice President for Mission works with the President to strengthen the College's Catholic Identity and sponsorship by the Congregation of Holy Cross. The Vice President for Mission also collaborates with faculty, staff, and students in their commitment to living out the mission of the College.

    Reporting to the President, the Vice President for Mission manages the Director of Campus Ministry, the Director of the Center for Nonprofit Management, and one executive assistant. The Division consists of 10 employees in total. The Vice President is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises Mission office staff, Center for Nonprofit Management and Department of Campus Ministry.
  • Works with the Campus Ministry to assure that the spiritual and pastoral needs of the college community are being addressed.
  • Works with the Center for Nonprofit Management to further their mission to build the management and leadership capacity of community-based nonprofit organizations throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and Northern Rhode Island, and provide opportunities for Stonehill students to engage in the non-profit sector.
  • Collaborates with the Department of Human Resources to plan and implement orientation programs for new members of the Board of Trustees and all new employees.
  • Chair of the Catholic Identity Committee.
  • Provides formal and informal education of the mission and values of the Congregation of Holy Cross, as well as the traditions, history and mission of Stonehill College.
  • Serves as a liaison with the Diocese of Fall River, Archdiocese of Boston and local ecclesial communities.
